And while "burning out" is not necessarily the best mentality either, it is important that we continue to pursue Christ, live our lives in His light, and uses the talents and skills he has given us. We must avoid being complacent and learn from the servant who buried his talents in the ground (Matthew 25:14-30). We should burn, not rust. (Combust, not oxidize. Well actually, combustion is a form of oxidation... but you get the point).
In Luke 24, shortly after Jesus' resurrection, he appears to two disciples walking on the Road to Emmaus who are unaware that they are in his presence. After Jesus finally reveals himself, in verse 32, They said to each other, "Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us about the scriptures?" That same feeling is reflected in Starfield's most recent album, which features a song titled "Burn for You", embedded below:
I pray that the Word will not only keep you warm as the weather outside gets chillier, but also fuel a fire that will keep burning on.
