The blog is moving. I no longer intend on posting here or updating this site, but you're welcome to join me at yanatails.blogspot.ca.

Lizard Tales

Welcome to my attempt at the Essay-a-Week Challenge, an idea posed by fourth-year artsci Alec Thomson that spread across the program faster than the "orange revolution" in Quebec. I'm not sure what surprises me more, the NDP surge, or the great willingness of students to voluntarily write essays, but we're sure to have some interesting weeks ahead of us. A blogroll widget should be on the side bar to your left, so you can visit and follow all the other wonderful pieces that are being written this summer!

The title "Lizard Tales" was drawn from a couple thoughts. Primarily, part of my Mandarin name, 立哲, sounds a bit like "lizard", which was a sparsely used nickname at home when I was much, much younger. I like lizards - chameleons are awesome, geckos are kinda cute, and let's not get started with their relations to the dinosaurs. They aren't tigers, but they're pretty high on my favourite animals scale, and hopefully I'll be able to sneak a few references to lizards in some of my essays. Moreover, I'm hoping that this challenge will take off with a mind of its own, much like lizard tails in the process of autonomy, wiggling around to distract the reader's attention with its own twists and turns.

I am ambitious now, but we'll have to see if momentum holds - the "new blogging year" spirit have not faded away yet. I'll try my best to update weekly and avoid the chaotic backlog of posts I had last year. To my fellow bloggers, and readers if I have any, let's hope for a happy and productive summer of 2011!
